Erling Haaland’s Dismissive Gesture as Young Boys Player Seeks His Shirt at Halftime

Young Boys defender Mohamed Ali Camara displayed a strong desire to obtain Erling Haaland’s match-worn shirt during their recent Champions League encounter at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s formidable side comfortably secured a 3-0 victory over their counterparts in Group G on Tuesday night. The goals, courtesy of Erling Haaland, who found the net twice, and Phil Foden, reaffirmed their dominance in Europe’s premier competition.

Erling Haaland, who has already notched up an impressive tally of 13 goals in all competitions for Manchester City this season, initiated the scoring with a successful penalty kick. Subsequently, Foden extended their lead with a remarkable solo run.

Shortly after, referee Erik Lambrechts signaled for half-time, and to his surprise, Haaland was approached by Young Boys’ center-back, Mohamed Ali Camara. As can be observed in the video footage below, the 23-year-old Haaland seemed somewhat reluctant but ultimately handed over his number 9 jersey.

In a separate development, Haaland upheld his commitment to the Ballon d’Or promise by emulating Didier Drogba’s celebration during the Champions League fixture that Tuesday evening. At last month’s Ballon d’Or ceremony, the Norwegian striker was honored with the prestigious Gerd Muller Trophy for his remarkable debut season with the Citizens, where he scored an impressive 56 goals.

During his speech at the ceremony, former Chelsea and Ivory Coast forward Didier Drogba, who co-hosted the event alongside Sandy Heribert, issued a celebration-related challenge. He remarked, “For your next goal, I challenge you to choose between the Didier Drogba celebration and the Gary Lineker celebration.”

Eight days later, Haaland remained true to his promise, executing Didier Drogba’s celebration just moments after successfully converting a penalty.

As it stands, Manchester City is leading Group G with an unblemished record of four wins in four matches. Meanwhile, Young Boys, who are atop the Swiss Super League, continue to search for their first victory in the competition.
