Josko Gvardiol Unveils the Two Manchester City Players Who Have Astonished Him Since His Arrival at the Club
Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol, the accomplished defender, has disclosed the two players who have left an indelible impression on him since his transfer to the club. This Croatian international, who followed in the footsteps of his compatriot Mateo Kovacic by joining the reigning Premier League and European champions, shared his admiration for two of his new teammates. Gvardiol arrived at City in the summer for a substantial fee of £77.6 million, making him the second-most expensive defender in history. Remarkably, he seamlessly integrated into Pep Guardiola’s squad, primarily excelling in the left-back position.
In a recent video featured on City’s YouTube channel, the 21-year-old was asked to identify the new additions to the team who had impressed him the most with their unique qualities. He singled out goalkeeper Ederson and midfield maestro Rodri, characterizing both as “incredible” for their exceptional abilities when in possession of the ball.
“Eddie and Rodri,” he commented.
“When you talk about Eddie, it’s because he’s a goalkeeper, and his prowess with the ball is truly remarkable. And as for Rodri, his ability to stay in the moment and maintain control of the ball is nothing short of incredible.”
Kovacic, his club and international colleague, concurred with Gvardiol’s assessment, affirming that both Ederson and Rodri are “top class.”
Gvardiol marked his first start for City in the UEFA Super Cup, which culminated in a victory over Sevilla on penalties. He has now accrued nine appearances for the club and, notably, garnered praise from commentator Gary Neville during the recent Manchester derby win against arch-rivals United. Neville made an intriguing comparison, stating, “Gvardiol is having a field day out there. He’s turned into Maldini.”
As of the moment, Manchester City occupies the third position in the Premier League, with Arsenal and Spurs ahead of them by a mere two points. Their next fixture will see them host Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
