Jack Robinson’s Clever Reply to Sheffield United Fans’ Chant
Sheffield United‘s defender, Jack Robinson, delivered a remarkable response to his own fans’ rendition of ‘Feed the Scousers’ during their match against Liverpool.
Despite Sheffield United’s defeat against Jurgen Klopp’s side, where Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai secured Liverpool’s 2-0 victory, the home fans continued their tradition of singing the well-known chant aimed at the visiting supporters.
The chant, originating from Band Aid’s ‘Feed the World’ and persisting since 1984, didn’t sit well with Robinson, a Liverpool native. Bluntly turning to the crowd, he expressed, “I’m a scouser!”
Robinson’s football journey began at Anfield in 2009, later experiencing loan spells at Wolves, Blackpool, and Huddersfield before securing a permanent move to Queens Park Rangers in 2014. After stints at Nottingham Forest, he’s been a pivotal part of Sheffield United for the past five seasons, contributing significantly to their ascent to the Premier League.
Sheffield United‘s new manager, Chris Wilder, expressed pride in his team’s performance despite the defeat, emphasizing the need for consistent efforts beyond a singular impressive showing against Liverpool.
In contrast, Jurgen Klopp acknowledged his team’s victory while noting areas for improvement, understanding the challenges presented by the congested fixture schedule during this period in the season.
