Maignan Decides Future Amid PSG and Chelsea Transfer Interest

AC Milan‘s goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, currently a regular for France’s national team, finds himself contemplating his future amid substantial interest from elite European clubs, according to insights from 90min.

Maignan, recognized among the world’s top goalkeepers, previously drew attention from Chelsea during negotiations involving Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic’s transfers to Milan.

Although the 28-year-old desires a contract reflecting his recent stellar performances, discussions for a new deal with AC Milan haven’t progressed positively, delaying the prospect of an immediate agreement. His existing contract extends until 2026.

This situation hasn’t gone unnoticed among European clubs. Paris Saint-Germain, Maignan’s former youth product, is primed to secure his services. His successful tenure at Lille, crowned with the 2020/21 Ligue 1 title, has captured PSG’s interest.

PSG’s contemplation of moving on from Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has faced consistency issues and recently received a red card, has heightened their pursuit of Maignan. Meanwhile, Chelsea, despite the arrival of Robert Sanchez, remains watchful of the situation, while Bayern Munich views Maignan as a potential long-term successor to Manuel Neuer.

Chelsea’s significant investment in Kepa Arrizabalaga back in 2018 did not yield consistent results, prompting his loan to Real Madrid, where he’s experiencing a resurgence. Amidst these developments, Maignan emerges as a coveted target for clubs seeking top-quality goalkeeping talent.

Beyond Maignan’s situation, Chelsea intensifies its pursuit of Napoli’s striker, Victor Osimhen, who seems increasingly unlikely to renew his contract with the Italian champions.
